Colombo, June 11 (Daily Mirror)- The government has approved the selection of a new consultancy firm to prepare the master plan for Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), following the cancellation of a previous contract due to procedural non-compliance.
Proposals for the project were initially invited under the International Competitive Bidding Procedure.
However, after evaluating the submissions, the Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Company terminated the earlier awarded contract citing the selected company’s failure to adhere to contractual obligations.
With the approval of the Cabinet of Ministers, the procurement process was subsequently relaunched.
Upon resuming the process, only one proposal was received — from M/s Haskoning DHV Netherland B.V, a reputed airport consultancy firm based in the Netherlands. Following a detailed appraisal by the Cabinet-appointed Consultation Procurement Committee, it was recommended that the consultancy contract be awarded to the Dutch firm.
The Cabinet of Ministers has now granted its approval for the proposal presented by the Minister of Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation to proceed with awarding the consultancy contract to M/s Haskoning DHV Netherland B.V.
