Cabinet approval granted to provide Rs. 3,000 gift voucher for school children, student monks

Colombo, January 21 (Daily Mirror) - The Cabinet approved a Rs. 3,000 gift voucher for selected schoolchildren, student monks, and lay students in Pirivenas to purchase shoes and to Seela Mathas, Health and Mass Media Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said.

The vouchers will be distributed based on recommendations from a committee appointed for 2025. 

Since 2015, the Education Ministry has provided shoes to selected students, with monks and lay students from Piriven and Seela Mathas included since 2020.

This programme will benefit 650,000 students in 6,000 small schools, 140,000 students in plantation schools, 2,300 students in special needs schools and 30,000 student monks and lay students.
