CPC instructed to take tough action against defying guidelines by filling station

The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has been instructed to take necessary action against filling stations that do not follow the stipulated guidelines, including the QR code, Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said.

He said a progress review meeting held this morning at Kollonnawa Terminal on Fuel Distribution. " Data was analyzed and discussed on the volume of fuel distributed to each fuel station and the volume of fuel dispensed through QR system," he said.

The minister said instructions was given to CPC to take appropriate management decisions on the fuel station which do not adhere to the set guidelines.

Fuel distribution to essential services, public transport, fisheries sector, agricultural requirements, industries, tourism was also reviewed and discussed, he said.

How about filling stations that cheat? I have filed a complaint about cheating at a filling station in Wattala. They also sell diesel in cans. No action taken so far. Cheating continues with impunity. The address is 250 Negombo Road Wattala.

Excellent minister ! Young blood is very active and proactive. You are doing a fantastic job. Those long standing, highly experienced but not performing ministers must be put on notice to get on with their job efficiently or shown the door. This is from someone retired, got plenty of grey hair.

What tough action from CPC? I made a complaint over the phone as fuel station wrongly reported, I have pumped full quota of my car, to QR system although I have pumped only 16 liters. It was on Saturday CPC was closed and complain was not possible as office closed. When I complained on next Monday once office opened and the complain receivers said that complain has to be made as soon as incident taken place. But I told him it was on Saturday and your office was closed. He just disconnect the call. I sent an email, almost week passed so far no reply.

Fuel station attendants, make two issues on one QR quota for the week. They pump for an additional 1000/- Rupees bribe. All rules are valid if those who are concerned follow the rule. Otherwise it is just a piece of paper. The minister takes the blame, while some one else take bribe. Proof? Visit any fuel station.

It's pathetic to see how some people cry over 4 liters which was over entered on a Saturday. The 4lt expires on Sunday. Go pump on Monday without moaning. You'd have 20 liters for your 'lost' 4 liters. Walk or cycle a little bit - It's good for you and the country!

I have means to get petrol with connections. Businessman like me who cultivate our relationship before the strife easily find way around government. Even the police myself and associates know do our bidding, because it's our culture. This is Sri Lanka, has been like then for 50 years. Aragalaya youngster don't understand Sri Lanka can never improve, the government also in the end do what us business want them to do, and tax collector also turn blind eye when they get the packet.
