Colombo, March 25 (Daily Mirror) - The Committee on Public Accounts (COPA) called for an investigation into the import of contaminated fish in January this year and has thus advised the Ministry of Finance to refer the matter to CID.
It was revealed at the recent COPA meeting that some 102 containers of contaminated fish had been imported in January this year.
COPA has given instructions after determining that the import of contaminated fish is a criminal act.

With the Sea of Sr Lanka surrounding us to an extent of 500 miles from the coast and each of our local fishing catch exceeding 10 times the yearly imported canned fish the authorities are hardly concerned about the waste of foreign exchange when the canned conents are only fish and water
