CNH health asst. nabbed with heroin at BIA

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Katunayake International Airport today arrested a woman, working as a health assistant at the Colombo National Hospital with a contraband of heroin, the airport police said.

The 38-year-old health assistant was a resident of the Kalinga Ela area on Polonnaruwa and currently living in a rented house in the Kovinna area of Katunayake and living with a paramour, the police revealed during the preliminary investigation.

Police said the heroin was recovered from small cosmetic containers where the drugs were carefully hidden.
        
The police found heroin worth Rs. 250,000, weighing 5.2g packed in the cosmetic containers.

The raid was made following information received by the Katunayake airport police. 

The woman was arrested by the policemen while trying to hand over this pack containing heroin to a person who came in a car in Malgashandiya area of Katunayake.

The Katunayake police are conducting further investigations, and the woman is to be produced before the Minuwangoda Magistrate today.  (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama and T.K.G. Kapila)
