CID to probe drug regulatory data fraud, passport procurement irregularities

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has been requested to investigate into allegations of bribery and corruption related to data fraud at the Drug Regulatory Authority and irregularities in the procurement of passports.  

The request follows a complaint filed by the Medical and Civil Rights Trade Union (MCRTU), which alleges fraudulent activities within the Drug Regulatory Authority and the passport procurement process. 

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption has also forwarded the complaint to the CID, according to the department’s written request.  

This investigation was initiated based on a complaint by Dr. Chamal Sanjeewa, Chairman of the Civil Rights Doctors Trade Union Alliance.
