CID seeks court approval to access phones of Backhoe Saman’s wife

Colombo, Sept. 29 (Daily Mirror) - The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today informed Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama that it sought permission to obtain a statement regarding the mobile phones in the possession of Shadhika Lakshani, the wife of 'Backhoe Saman', who is currently in remand custody under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

The CID told court that at the time of her arrest, two mobile phones in her possession were taken into custody and both devices were secured with the suspect’s face password, which needed to be removed for further investigations.

It was further informed to court that the two mobile phones are to be referred to the CID’s forensic laboratory for examination in connection with the ongoing investigations.
