What a joke. If anyone else they will take his wife and son to custody. In Sri Lanka law is different for high profile personalities and normal citizens. Sad situation .

Why wasn't the family questioned and statements taken the day they first went to arrest him at his residence?. as the delay would have given him time to brain wash his family members further in case they were questioned at some point of time. Also, incidents like this where suspects go into hiding, they know it well in advance the bounty that is on their head when they partake in various illegal activities and the stage is set with regards to family and friends being questioned, new phones various sim cards etc are also prepared prior to doing a runner, so even have their families go to various places to call and or get their calls.

Even totally unknown culprits have been apprehended by Police in no time but a high profile one is still at large. Something wrong. They boast of very well run Intelligence unit but where are they searching - under the beds.

He still appear to have friends and sympathizers in the police department. This as what Ravi did too. A two tiered system of law enforcement. MR shoul also have been arrested for the Aragalaya riot for inciting mob violence. It never happened and doubtful will ever happen, despite the rhetoric. GOSL could not evict him from the house yet either.

When will this grand theatrics end and the government gets down to real business? Remember by 2028 we must start paying our colossal debt and while all these happening we have to grow the economy to provide employment for all those kids who leave school, universities and vocational training. We voted this government not to repeat the ‘mistakes of the past 76 years’ (in their own words) but look what’s going on. Why not these JVPers realise this? Why not their NPP counter parts tame those JVPers who are engaged in these primeval activities. Instead what we see is ‘playing the violin while the country is burning’!

The family members are safe because he is a former IGP. If an ordinary person were evading court proceedings, the entire family would be in custody until he appeared.

Usually if offender absconding,arresting his immediate relatives is method of SriLanka police,do it here,otherwise you never be able to do it in future
