Colombo, July 25 (Daily Mirror) - The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has launched an investigation into the circulation of a forged document falsely attributed to the Acting Inspector General of Police, which has been widely shared via WhatsApp and other social media platforms.
Police said that the document, distributed as a PDF file, falsely impersonates official police communication.
It has reportedly been circulated using several unauthorised email addresses, including [email protected] , [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] and [email protected].
Police said that none of these email addresses are associated with the Sri Lanka Police or any government entity.
They said that the CID is currently working to identify the source and intent behind the fraudulent communication. They urged the public to remain vigilant and not to be misled by unofficial or suspicious content shared online.
