CID complaint over false claims involving Mahinda Rajapaksa and Malwathu Viharaya

Colombo, July 1 (Daily Mirror) - A group of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) activists have lodged a complaint with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) over recent social media claims involving former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the Malwathu Maha Viharaya in Kandy.

Addressing the media, the group stated that certain posts circulating online alleged that former President Rajapaksa had appealed to the Malwathu Maha Viharaya to intervene and prevent the possible arrest of former First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa.

They said both the former President and officials from the Malwathu Maha Viharaya had categorically denied the claims, describing them as baseless and fabricated.
