Colombo, Oct. 8 (Daily Mirror) - In a landmark move to strengthen integrity, transparency, and accountability in governance, the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has launched a digital Case-File Tracking System to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of handling bribery and corruption cases in Sri Lanka.
The initiative, implemented in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and funded by the Government of Japan through the Japanese Supplementary Budget (JSB), marks a significant step under the ongoing project on “Promoting Economic Governance through Anti-Corruption Policy Support.”
The system was inaugurated at CIABOC headquarters in Colombo in the presence of Justice Neil Iddawala, Chairperson of CIABOC; Commissioners K.B. Rajapaksh (Attorney-at-Law) and President’s Counsel Chethiya Gunasekara; Ranga Dissanayake (High Court Judge), Director General of CIABOC; KAMOSHIDA Naoaki, Minister/Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Japan; and Ms. Azusa Kubota, UNDP Resident Representative in Sri Lanka.
The new digital platform is designed to streamline case management, improve workflow efficiency, and enable timely, transparent investigations. It enhances CIABOC’s institutional capacity to fulfil its constitutional mandate while supporting effective governance.
The Case-File Tracking and Workflow Management Solution aims to modernize investigation processes through efficient case handling, optimized workflow, improved accountability, real-time reporting, and collaboration tools.
To ensure its sustainability, the Government of Japan and UNDP handed over hardware infrastructure worth USD 202,222 and provided specialized training to CIABOC staff to maximize the system’s benefits.
Through this digital transformation, CIABOC seeks to strengthen independence, transparency, and accountability in its operations, aligning with Sri Lanka’s digital governance agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
