Colombo, Jan. 23 (Daily Mirror) - The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption informed Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama today that indictments have been filed before the High Court against Parliamentarian Chamara Sampath Dassanayake in connection with an investigation into alleged corruption.
Making further submissions, the CIABOC stated that indictments have already been filed in respect of one case pending against Parliamentarian Chamara Sampath Dassanayake.
Meanwhile, two other cases relating to the same Parliamentarian were also taken up before the court today, and the Magistrate ordered that these cases be postponed until May 19.
The cases have been filed alleging that while serving as the Chief Minister of the Uva Provincial Council, Chamara Sampath Dassanayake caused a loss to the State by withdrawing six fixed deposit accounts belonging to the Provincial Council prior to their maturity dates.
