CDF soldier assigned for monitoring electric fence killed in elephant attack

Colombo, July 30 (Daily Mirror) - A Civil Defence Forces (CDF) soldier who was engaged in monitoring electric fences has been killed in a wild elephant attack in South Siyambalangamuwa.

The victim is a 47-year-old father of two and was attached to the Kekirawa sub-area of the Civil Defence Forces.

He was assigned to monitor the electric fence at Habarawatte in Meegalewa and was attacked by a wild elephant while riding a motorbike for duties this morning.

Galnewa police have launched an investigation into the incident.
