CAA raids cinema canteens in Colombo over overpriced goods

Colombo, August 24 (Daily Mirror) - Following public complaints that products were being sold above the marked price, the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) conducted raids recently at three cinema canteens in Colombo.

The CAA reminded all traders that selling goods above the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) is a punishable offence under the law.

Consumers have been urged to report such incidents by calling the short number 1977 during office hours.

Please conduct raids on Function halls in Colombo, especially check the kitchens and the conditions of washrooms including food production staff's washrooms.

The outcome could be well predicted!!?? There will be none prepared to sell their wares/commodities at Cinema's!!?? The viewers would have to carry whatever snacks they wish to consume whilst viewing at the cinema - purchasing prior to entry!!?? No more Ice-cream, Yogurt, Cool drinks coke, lemonade included - No freezer/refrigeration facilities!!?? Cannot go out to purchase during intermission!!?? They, operators of cinemas may stipulate what refreshments could be brought in and containers too!!?? Nice one CA!?? That's why, people who head these institutions should always have a “WHAT YOU CALL A head WITH A BRAIN WITHIN between their Shoulders" - NONE OTHER!? One should understand someone provides additional fee, is applicable – SERVICE CHARGE
