The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) Chairman had issued a Gazette Extraordinary regarding direct traders and companies involved in network marketing.
According to the gazette notification, all direct traders who sell solar lighting systems, phones and accessories, furniture, cleaning agents, shoes, stationery, kitchen utensils and accessories, bed sheets, mattresses and ready-made garments are obligated to register themselves with the CAA.
A trader should issue to a customer a receipt or bill in printed or electronic form containing the following details, and the duplicate of such receipts shall be retained with him.
Details as follows: receipt or bill number, nature of the transaction, whether retail or wholesale, date of transaction, type of goods sold, quantity of goods sold, value of a unit of the goods sold, total value of the goods sold, batch number, guarantee period, name and address of consumer; and any other directions imposed under a written law in respect of the issue of receipts by a trader.
