Colombo, March 26 (Daily Mirror) - The Court of Appeal further extended its previous order to maintain the status quo for former Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) Director Neville de Silva in connection with the Weligama hotel shooting incident.
However, this extension was made subject to the Attorney General’s objections.
Several petitioners including former OIC of the CCD informed court that they did not wish to proceed with the matter.
The Attorney General’s Department objected to any extension of the status quo order against the former Director of CCD, ASP Neville de Silva.
However, having heard the submissions made by the President’s Counsel for the petitioner, Court of Appeal Justice Gihan Kulatunga extended the order to maintain the status quo as far as Neville de Silva is concerned and granted time to the petitioner to file any further papers prior to supporting.
The petition was fixed for support on 28 April 2025.
Eraj de Silva PC with Daminda Wijayaratne, Harith Hettiarachchi, N.K. Ashokbharan, Sanjana Mapatuna, and Parami Gunawardena instructed by Dimuthu Kuruppuarachchi appeared for the petitioner.
