Colombo, Oct. 28 (Daily Mirror) - The post-mortem has revealed that the death of the British national who was celebrating his daughter's 34th birthday while hiking at Ella Rock has been due to a sudden heart attack.
A British national, identified as Brett Maclean, 63, of Oakpath, United Kingdom, died under mysterious circumstances in Ella while celebrating his daughter's birthday.
He had arrived in Sri Lanka on October 16 with his daughter, Natalie Anne. The pair had first stayed in Weligama before travelling to Ella on October 23 and checking into a local tourist hotel, according to the Ella Police.
Following the incident, the Bandarawela Magistrate, Gemunu Chandrasekara, ordered a magisterial inquiry and directed police to transfer the body to the Badulla Teaching Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
The post-mortem conducted at the Badulla Teaching Hospital confirmed that the cause of death was a sudden heart attack.
