This is what we were talking about. MPs who are absolutely clueless. No idea on how to solve a problem. Sane person might have suggested like shall we train more Tamil medium teachers ? Or shall we change the law so we can start teaching in English from a young age. As a short term solution shall we draft in graduates who are wasting away in government offices who can speak in Tamil to teach these children? These are solutions. These are practicle and sustainable solutions.

We do not need teachers from India, what is wrong with the Tamils living in the Country, why not train them as teachers and send them to the estate schools, with the usual perks given for working in remote areas where it is difficult to get staff to relocate. We may even put out a call for Sri Lankan's living overseas who may return to take up teaching appointments for a few years, till we train our own Tamil citizens.

One thing is for certain. For Tamils, education is a high priority, but there may not be local teachers who want to serve in those areas. If it can be done with Indian teachers, it is a win for the students and the future of Sri Lanka.

We cannot believe in this situation of having to import teachers for estate schools ..Plantation sector environment he says ..Surely there are enough educated in the North to be given appointments in these schools ..May be a solution to the problem of unemployed educated .Trained as teachers in the Tamil medium they gain an a learning experience to the youthful educated on the plantation sector and other cultures in the south. Sharing experiences is sure way of uniting the country ... ..Our youth are clever at learning and adapting , is proven skill , for we read on how they adapt to the other cultures as migrants to the wider world .

Radhakrishnan had given strict instructions to all the Estate School Principals to make him as the Chief Guest to any functions and in the invitation card his name should be printed. What a shameful act this was. Such fellows should be chased out. Third class old politicians should be chased out.

Well, no need to bring teachers from India. At the same time, it's not worth for them to come here as they get heavily paid in their home country. Cost of living is much much cheaper over there. Teaching is an art and one should have a true passion. How many have it and how many among them would consider it as a noble profession. The recent improved performance in the Hatton region is purely due to the fact that the place has evolved as a tuition centre. The performance in the other regions is far from satisfactory. We need not bring teachers from India but atleast should try to understand how they create the manpower resources. Nothing wrong in learning the good things from anyone.

Could train people locally specially from upcountry so their lives too will improve and will motivate the young people as they could see an opportunity there for the future. Also will reduce the unemployment for the country as a whole
