Bribery Commission issues notice on asset and liability declarations

Colombo, June 30 (Daily Mirror) - The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has announced an extension of the deadline for submitting annual and post-retirement asset and liability declarations without a penalty, following severe congestion on its centralized electronic system.

Under the Anti-Corruption Act No. 9 of 2023, all individuals required to submit these declarations must do so exclusively through the newly established online platform.

While the original deadline to submit declarations for the period ending March 31, 2026, without a penalty was June 30, 2026, high user volumes caused technical disruptions, the Commission said.

CIABOC reported that an influx of user access starting June 28, 2026, led to significant system congestion, preventing many officials from successfully registering or completing their submissions. Under standard rules, submissions can still be made until August 31, but would normally incur a fine after the June 30 cutoff.

In light of these technical difficulties, CIABOC has granted a special grace period until midnight on July 7, 2026. This penalty-free extension applies to officials who successfully registered but failed to submit their declarations by June 30, as well as those who attempted to log in and register by June 30 but were unable to complete the process due to system errors.

The Commission has advised the public and relevant officials that any technical issues or queries regarding data entry into the centralized electronic system should be directed to CIABOC’s Asset and Liability Declarations Division. Inquiries can be made via the dedicated contact numbers: 0767011954 or 0112587287.
