Boy trapped in storm drain dies
A 13 year old boy trapped in a storm drain for over an hour during the heavy downpour has died, Kurunegala Police said.
Sajitha Senaratna was a grade 9 student of Maliyadeva Adarsha Maha Vidyalaya in Kurunegala.
The 13 year old who had been on his way home after school, had fallen into a storm drain while attempting to make way for a school van on the road.
The child had been swept away by strong floodwaters during the heavy downpour, and had been trapped for a long time in the drain, Police said.(Pushpakumara Jayaratne)
