Colombo, April 20 (Daily Mirror) - The heat felt by the human body is expected to reach the Caution level in 29 districts.
This includes areas in the Northern, North-Central, North-Western, Western, Southern and Eastern Provinces, as well as the Ratnapura and Moneragala districts.
According to the Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre of the Department of Meteorology, only the districts of Matale, Kandy, Kegalle, Badulla and Nuwara Eliya are expected to experience normal heat levels.
The Heat Index Forecast is based on both humidity and maximum temperature. It reflects how hot it actually feels on your body, not the air temperature itself. This forecast is generated using global weather data for the next day and is issued by the Department of Meteorology with guidance from the Ministry of Health and Indigenous Medical Services.
Advice to the Public: People working outdoors are advised to stay hydrated and take regular breaks in the shade.
Check on elderly and sick people staying indoors.
Do not leave children unattended, especially in vehicles.
Limit heavy outdoor work, stay in the shade and drink plenty of water.
Wear light-colored and lightweight clothing.
