Badulla-Colombo train service distrupted due to earth mound collapsing on tracks

ELLA (Daily Mirror) - The Badulla-Colombo train service has been disrupted this afternoon due to the collapse of an earth mound on the railway line between the Haliela and Uduwara stations on the up-country line, the Railways Department said.

Due to the heavy rains, a large earth mound has collapsed on the railway line.

Meanwhile, the Railway Department said the goods train from Kandy to Badulla has been stopped at the Uduwara station, and the Podi Menike train from Colombo to Badulla has been stopped at Demodara station.

The department said the work to remove the earth mound has begun and the trains operating between Badulla and Colombo on the up-country line will be delayed today.
