Baby’s corpse found in Colombo-bound train

Colombo, August 01 (Daily Mirror) - The Dematagoda Police today presented facts before Colombo Additional Magistrate Kasun Kanchana Dissanayake regarding the discovery of a deceased infant, believed to be several days old, found abandoned inside a train carriage that had travelled from Puttalam to Colombo.

According to police, the body was discovered by a janitor of the Railways Department while cleaning the lavatory of the train carriage. The janitor immediately reported the matter to the Dematagoda Police.

After considering the facts presented, the Additional Magistrate ordered that the remains of the infant be sent for a post-mortem examination and instructed that a report be submitted to the court.
