Aswesuma allowance for elderly to be credited tomorrow

Colombo, July 29 (Daily Mirror) - The monthly allowance for elderly persons receiving Aswesuma benefits will be credited to their bank accounts tomorrow (30), the Welfare Benefits Board said.

Board Chairman Jayantha Weeraratne said that beneficiaries will be able to access their funds through the designated benefit accounts from tomorrow onwards.

He further said that a total of over Rs. 3,003 million (Rs. 3,003,840,000) has been credited to the bank accounts of 600,768 eligible beneficiaries across the country.

The Aswesuma programme, aimed at supporting low-income and vulnerable families, continues to provide financial assistance to thousands of elderly citizens under its welfare framework.
