Aswesuma allowance for April from today



Colombom April 11 (Daily Mirror) - The Welfare Benefits Board announced that Aswesuma beneficiaries can receive their allowance for the month of April starting today (11).

In a media release, the Board’s Chairman and Commissioner, Jayantha Wijerathne said that the relevant funds have already been deposited into the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries.

The statement also noted that payments reflecting the increased allowances, including the elderly allowance introduced under the 2025 Budget, have commenced this month.

A total of Rs. 12.63 billion has been allocated for 1,737,141 eligible families under the Aswesuma Welfare Beneficiary Programme.

Additionally, the Welfare Benefits Board reported that Rs. 2.9 billion has been credited to the accounts of 580,944 adults over the age of 70 within those families.
