Anura Sampath Bandara, Assistant Controller of the Department of Immigration and Emigration, was ordered to be remanded till May 29 by Colombo Additional Magistrate Harshana Kekunawela, over the alleged issuing of three forged forged passports to an organised criminal 'Kehelbaddara Padme.'

The suspect was arrested today by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and produced before the court.

Assistant Controller must have helped in the issue of the three Passports for a santhosam. The outcome is to spend some time in the remand and later if convicted lose the job together with pension and other rights and spend more time in the public boarding

It is a big task to eliminate corruptions of the Government officials. If they do not commit corruptions and strictly follow the rules then the Politicians will find very for them to benefit from corruption and misuse of Government funds. Glad to note that under NPP Government they have captured a number of Government officials. Right path, long way to go though.

The issuing of false passports during the war was endemic. The Immigration Department has been a putrid cesspool since time immemorial. Unfortunately, we have never had a Minister capable of bringing it up to First World standard.

a number of immigration official are arrested for fraudulent passport issues and understandable how drug lords wanted for crimes are sitting pretty abroad If those passport dates are checked a lot more official hoping they wont be caught could be nabbed
