The five-member committee appointed to probe the alleged assault on State Minister Diana Gamage at the Parliament lobby, scrutinized the CCTV footage regarding the incident today and decided to summon relevant parties on November 6.
The Committee headed by Deputy Speaker Ajith Rajapaksa met at the Parliament Complex today where former Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa, Gayantha Karunathilaka, Imthiaz Bakeer Markar and Minister Ramesh Pathirana were present.
It was also decided to appoint two female MPs representing the ruling party and the opposition and they are also expected to participate in the next meeting on November 6.
Deputy Speaker Ajith Rajapaksa said the report of the committee will be handed over to the Speaker after concluding the investigations, during the next session of the meeting.
He said the Committee unanimously decided to take action to prevent any recurrence of such incidents as they pose a threat to the dignity of the House. (Ajith Siriwardana)
