Around 100mm heavy rains expected within 24 hours

With the further continuation of the rainy conditions in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, Uva and Central Provinces for the next 24 hours, 100 mm of rain can be expected in the Eastern and Uva Provinces and in the Matale, Nuwara-Eliya and Polonnaruwa districts.

The Forecasting Division of the National Meteorological Centre said cloudy skies are expected over most parts of the island.

Showers will occur in the Northern, Eastern, North-Central, Uva and Central Provinces and in the Hambantota district. 

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places elsewhere.

Meanwhile, fairly strong winds up to 40 kmph can be expected at times over the eastern slopes of the central hills and in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern and North-Western Provinces and in the Hambantota and
Moneragala districts.
