Arjuna Mahendran’s latest image surfaces after video call with journalist

Colombo, Oct. 17 (Daily Mirror) - A photograph of former Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran, who continues to be sought in connection with the 2015 Central Bank bond scam, has gone viral after senior journalist Uvindu Kurukulasuriya shared a social media post about having a video call with him.

Kurukulasuriya, posting on social media, claimed Mahendran had contacted him after nearly three years.

In a Sinhala-language post, he claimed that Mahendran spoke about several matters and had asked him to convey certain advice to President Anura Dissanayake.

The journalist said he declined to do so, adding that the discussion included “many stories” and noting that he has known Mahendran for almost 30 years.

Mahendran, currently residing in Singapore, has been accused of involvement in the controversial bond issuance that allegedly resulted in major financial losses to the government.

Authorities have been seeking his extradition to Sri Lanka in connection with the case.
