Colombo, Sept 4 (Daily Mirror) - The Court of Appeal today issued an interim order suspending trial proceedings in the case against Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security and retired Senior DIG Ravi Seneviratne, which is currently before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court.
The case concerns allegations that Seneviratne drove under the influence of alcohol and failed to prevent a road accident in 2023.
Seneviratne had filed a transfer application before the Court of Appeal seeking to have the matter moved from the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court to another court.
After reviewing submissions, the two-judge bench comprising Justices Mayadunne Corea and Mahen Gopallawa granted the interim relief.
The court further issued notices on the respondents and fixed the matter for inquiry on November 25.
