Another variety of chemical fertilizer to paddy farmers for next Maha season
A decision has been taken to provide another variety of chemical fertilizer free of charge to paddy farmers for the next Maha season, the Agriculture Ministry said.
Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said that in the coming Maha season of 2023 and 2024, one more type of chemical fertilizer will be provided free of charge to farmers who cultivate paddy.
This year, the government took steps to provide free TSP (Triple Super Phosphate) to the farmers free of charge after three cropping seasons, to all those who cultivated paddy fields during the last Maha season, regardless of whether or not they cultivate paddy this Yala season.
Accordingly, vouchers were issued for the amount of Rs. 20,000 for a hectare and Rs. 40,000 for two hectares. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
