Another derailment on upcountry line
The night mail train travelling from Badulla Railway Station to Colombo Fort derailed at the Kithelella Sub-Station tonight, the Railways Department said.
They said four wheels of the supporting engine had come off the tracks during the incident. However, no injuries were reported.
Railway authorities said arrangements have been made to continue the journey to Colombo Fort without the supporting engine, while efforts are underway to clear the affected section of the track.
An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the derailment.
