Another couple arrested for damaging Lotus Tower

Despite several warnings and notices, another group of young adults were caught causing damages to the observation deck at the Lotus Tower, Colombo today, its management said.

The management had taken action by informing the Maradana Police Station and the accused individuals were summoned to the Police Station.

The Lotus Tower management said that even after awareness raising messages over the media it is pathetic that such incidents take place.

"It is our duty to safeguard and protect this public asset. However, there has been an increase in the number of individuals who damage the walls and iron fences of the Lotus Tower," the management said. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)

Ban such groups who are causing damage and danger for the other groups visiting such public places of interest. Take photos of the individuals and post it at the ticketing counter . Under code of violence damages done to public property.

@Hey Jeanne, your way of thinking is typical in Sri Lanka and it is one of the reasons why Sri Lanka is in this miserable situation. The tower is already built and it is attracting local and foreign visitors, over the course of many years , they will recover the costs. I personally do not like this tower as it looks very ugly during the day due to its exterior color and short height compared to similar towers in other countries. But it is there , so at least , now , make the best use of it.

Introduce whipping or public canning for such offences in addition to a Rs. 500,000 fine. No bail be given for vandalising public property. ontill the fine is fully paid. We do not know to protect our property.
