Colombo, July 17 (Daily Mirror) - The Railways Department has reopened the Andadola and Akurala railway sub-stations, restoring ticketing and other passenger services after both stations remained closed for several months.
The Andadola Sub-Station had been closed for 11 months, while the Akurala Sub-Station remained shut for nine months following the resignation of their respective Sub-Station Masters.
The stations were reopened today with the assistance of relief Station Masters, enabling passengers to once again access ticket issuing services and other railway facilities.
With the reopening, commuters using both stations will be able to purchase tickets and make use of regular train services without disruption.
The announcement also expressed appreciation to media institutions, stating that extensive media coverage of the issue played a significant role in bringing attention to the prolonged closures and supporting efforts to restore services.
