Colombo, Feb 17 (Daily Mirror) - While highlighting that the budget 2025 has been prepared following the advice of the IMF, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said the government should amend the budget at least during the budget debate.
“It is not late for the government to amend the budget and we expect such a scenario will take place during the budget debate,” Premadasa told the media.
“The title of Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s election manifesto is ‘Rata Anurata’ (handover the country to Anura) but the conclusion which we can come to while looking at the budget is that ‘Rata IMF ekata' (handover the country to the IMF). This year's budget has been prepared following IMF advice. The government pledged to come up with a fresh debt sustainability analysis but it seems that it is going along with the debt sustainability analysis of the previous government,” he said.

The budget should be flexible between people and IMF. Just imagine suppose this is Ranil's budget poor people will not be much benefitted as long as he will not like to reduce wastages and the politicians will be well off.If it is Sajith's budget he will not control wastages but poor people will get some relief. Anura has done both according to this budget
