Colombo, Dec 6 (Daily Mirror) - The Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court today ordered to release former Director of the Terrorism Investigation Division (TID) DIG Nalaka De Silva from a case filed against him that he had allegedly plotted to assassinate former President Maithripala Sirisena and former Defence Secretary and President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage ordered to release the former TID Director from the case following the Attorney General's advice not to proceed with the case due to insufficient evidence.

The CID had commenced investigations into this incident based on a complaint lodged by the operations director of the Anti-Corruptions Movement Namal Kumara in 2019.

end of another fiction story, produced by the dirty politicians for their personal gain

    Onlooker Wednesday, 06 December 2023 02:49 PM

Yes case withdrawn as it has served its purpose of delaying inquiries into his looking at terrorism at that time. It was all a fib and actually Namal Kumara should have been charged. This is how they fooled everyone. There was no assassination plot at all.

Director of the Terrorism Investigation Division (TID) DIG Nalaka De Silva the man who stood on the way against SAHARAN and his men? What happens to Namal Kumara then?

    Puswadilla Wednesday, 06 December 2023 05:04 PM

Where is that Namal Kumara fellow? All swept under the carpet looks like. After all Birds of a feather …. Together.

    Prince Wednesday, 06 December 2023 05:12 PM

Namal Kumara was a political plot. He was planted to give false evidence against officers against the ruling government of the Rajapakshas. Another was Dig Shani Abeysekera. What a country.

Sisil Sudesh Wednesday, 06 December 2023 05:49 PM

That cannot undo the damage. He was falsely accused and arrested while pursuing the gang that would be involved in the Easter Bombing.

The so called anti-corruption movement director seems to be the most corrupted person, who has falsely accused an innocent and able police officer at the behest of his corrupt and crooked political masters.

    Where is Namal Kumara?

    Buddhist Wednesday, 06 December 2023 07:15 PM

Why no charges have been filed against Namal Kumara? This has to be done immediately. Shani should also file a case against the government for compensation.

    Spartacus Wednesday, 06 December 2023 07:37 PM

How come persons are taken into custody with poor levels of evidence and released later with total lack of it? Isn't this against human rights to be locked inside due to personal vengeance? Can we arrest persons responsible for this and punish them severely so that such things do not happen?

    cineha Wednesday, 06 December 2023 08:32 PM

Does it mean that even a serving DIG could be remanded under PTI without sufficient evidence, for the AG to now say that no sufficient evidence to pursue the charges? The real comedy is that the complainant Namal"s where abouts is now not known.

How many honest honourable Police officers were harassed by the crooks. Judgement day must dawn soon. SHANI should have been appointed as the IG
