All unused vehicles in government institutions to be sold before March 31

Colombo, Feb 27 (Daily Mirror) - All unused vehicles in government institutions, including those in the Presidentia's office, are to be sold before March 31, Minister Wasantha Samarasinghe told Parliament today.

He said all proceeds will be credited to the Treasury.

Minister Samarasinghe said more than 800 vehicles have been used by those in the previous regimes.

“Some 68 vehicles have been given to advisors of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe. Those who received vehicles include Saman Ratnapriya, Saman Attaudahetti, Suranga Madduma Bandara, R. Paskaralingam and Rosy Senanayake, the Minister said.

Even if that is the case. It is better to sell vehicles with 5-litre engines that consume 20 to 30 litres of fuel per 100 km and then buy new vehicles with 1-litre engines that consume 7 litres of fuel per 100 km.

How could you say Unused vehicles. MR, GR and RW's regime all the vehicles were used, and they hired outside vehicles to cater the Ministers, State Ministers and MPs of Potuwa and their family members, this is the truth. Even Mahinda's domestic servants were given luxury vehicles.

Wrong terminology. It cannot be unused vehicles but used vehicles not being used as to today. Did the comrade said the wrong thing or translated wrongly. In any case these 800 vehicles must belong to either ministries, departments or statuary bodies and must be in their asset registers. Hope these novice comrades do it right by identifying ownership write off from the asset register from the relevant institution and transfer to one ministry either finance or public administration and then put on auction and do the proper ownership transfers. In the good old days all government vesicles were returned to government stores which had a yard in slave island in front of lake house bookshop and sold by auction. Comrade Wasantha isn't this yet another publicity stunt targeting elections to fool the gullible supporters I wonder!!!!
