Cabinet approval has been granted to recruit 5,450 graduates as teachers according to the Teacher Service Constitution, Education Minister Susil Premajayantha said.

These teachers will be recruited for main subjects such as science, technology, English and foreign languages in relation to the provinces, and the recruitment is to be done by the provinces in the future.

Addressing an event organised in Badulla recently, Minister Premajayantha said the teachers will be recruited to national schools through the Education Ministry.

The proposal to merge all National Institutes of Education (NIEs) and convert them into a single university in the future has also been presented in the form of a Concept Paper, he added.

The Minister further said that all arrangements are in place to provide textbooks and school uniforms before the end of 2024. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)

Please make that you are not violating the finance ministry circular. New recuting is suspended . There is no money in the treasury why don't you employ the graduates in the security forces to do some teaching for few years. They are all paid treasury money for salary.
