Air India plane carrying 242 passengers crashes near Ahmedabad airport

An Air India flight crashed near the Ahmedabad airport on Thursday, with initial inputs suggesting around 242 passengers were onboard.

The incident is believed to have occurred when the flight was taking off for London. Heavy smoke is visible from Dharpur near the Meghaninagar area.

The fire brigade has rushed to the spot, and emergency response teams are being mobilised. Authorities are yet to confirm the cause of the crash.

The Boeing dreamliner has a good safety record. This is the first fatality accident of this aircraft since it's introduction 14 years ago. Please don't jump into conclusions, until the investigation is completed. Sorry for the lost lives.

Majority of crashes in the recent years has been Boeing aircrafts. Boeing was under spotlight for internal issues. The aircraft in this crash is a B787 which is quite new. B737 max was put out of service for sometime after 2 crashes.
