Actor Kavinga Perera arrested over fatal accident

Popular actor Kavinga Perera has been arrested over a fatal accident at Wele Kade Junction in Thalangama early this morning.

Police said the actor's car has knocked down a worker of the Road Development Authority (RDA) who was involved in maintenance work on the Battaramulla-Pannipitiya Road at around 12.45 a.m today.

The victim was identified as a 42 year-old resident of Meegahathenna.

It was reported that a group of men had stopped the actor's car as he was trying to flee the location of the accident.

The 32-year-old suspect was to be produced in the Kaduwela Magistrate's Court and the Thalangama Police are investigating.
