ASP’s motorcar in fatal accident

Colombo, March 5 (Daily Mirror) - One died and three others including the ASP Eastern Province State Intelligence Service were injured when the motorcar transporting the ASP collided with another motorcar at Dodangoda passing Welipenna changeover on the Southern Expressway.

The driver of the other motorcar A.B.Rizvan from Kalutara North died in the incident. The inured including the police driver, the ASP and a passenger in the other motorcar were admitted to the Kalutara general hospital at Nagoda.

ASP H.M.C.Nilanga Herath was on his way to Colombo on an official assignment when he met with the accident.

The other motorcar involved in the accident had been halted by the roadside due to a technical defect and its driver standing near it. Investigations revealed that motorcar driven by the police driver had collided with the other motorcar after knocking down its driver standing behind it.

The Police driver was taken into custody by the Expressway Traffic Police pending further investigations.

Police driver's in Sri Lanka they think they are above all when driving their vehicles in official uniform. If the Police driver drives correctly this accident could have avoided.

If your car breaksdown on the highway, you should remain within the car and inform the hot number. That way the death could have been avoided. Having said that, how did the police car hit a stalled car? Was it traveling too fast, or was the driver under the influence of alcohol? One or both maybe possible, as police vehicles are driven in breach of rules usually. They think that they are above the law.
