AMS welcomes appointment of Dr. Wijewickrama as NMRA chairman

The Association of Medical Specialists (AMS) commended the timely decision by Health Minister Ramesh Pathirana to appoint Dr. Ananda Wijewickrama as the new NMRA chairman.

In a statement, the AMS said there is palpable relief in the medical profession and among the public with the new appointment.

“We are confident that an entire new team will be appointed by you soon to support you and your endeavors to resurrect the healthcare delivery in our country from the current precarious situation,” the AMS stressed.

“The selection of Dr. Ananda Wijewickrama as the new NMRA chairman confirms the confidence we have in the new Minister of Health and makes us believe that the Minister is genuinely interested in doing the right thing for the country’s health service,” it added.

Moreover, the AMS stated that they have full confidence in the ability of the Minister to accomplish the upcoming challenges and assured their support in future initiatives.
