Colombo, Feb 14 (Daily Mirror) - The Attorney General has filed indictments against Yoshitha Rajapaksa, the second son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and his grandmother, Daisy Forrest, before the Colombo High Court on money laundering charges.

The Attorney General has charged the two accused with failing to disclose how they acquired land and properties in the Sirimal Wattha Uyana area in Dehiwala, as well as properties in Ratmalana, worth over Rs. 80 million, between 2012 and 2015.

Legal Officers at AG Dept at work now. They must have found a file and figured out how to write-up and file an indictment. Inquiring minds want to know how many other files they might find and learn to write-up indictments. The Government cannot and should not influence the AG' Dept. but there is nothing to stop the general public from naming and shaming these nincompoops.

The Rajapakshe family should be investigated for owning properties disproportionate to their known income. There are many businesses run by others, but funded by the Royal family. Those businesses must explain the source of their wealth used to purchase properties in Sri Lanka and abroad. The IRD wakes up when you register a vehicle, what were they doing when people buy properties?

Most stupid indictment. Hundreds of Millions of Properties and Vehicles are bought without justification by dug kings and tax defrauders. MR will easily procure documents to justify Rs.80 M which is a peanut in comparison . NPP would have to bear the shame while the corrupt would use it for their justification to refuse genuine crime with evidence, NPP is falling into a trap due to lack of foresight.

Lets all hope that sanity will prevail. How can any judge accept this sort of nonsense ? If so everybody in Sri Lanka will be able to obtain money by hook or crook and say that their grandmother was given a bag of money/Gold/precious stones etc: by some unknown source and all crooks will get away scot free. Might as well abolish all Courts in that case as there will be no use for the Sri Lanka Courts.
