79th Bradby Shield dates confirmed

Trinity College will host the first leg of the 79th Bradby Shield on August 23 at the Trinity College Rugby Stadium in Pallekele.

Trinity 1986 skipper Senani Gunaratne will be the Chief Guest.

The return second leg will be played on September 6 at the Royal Sports Complex.

Meanwhile, both schools who will be playing in the same group in the League encounter will lock horns before the Bradby encounter.

The encounter will take place in Kandy. Usmaan Shafraz will lead Trinity while Royal are yet to appoint their skipper for the 2025 season.

why these things are main news ? it’s just a sport event between two colleges not 2 countries on an international level .why do we give importance to such a silly matters .Is this same coverage given to other schools in the country ?

Its a great encounter! Anybody can play rugby but non can bring such a tradition!

@ww Can you name a GOLD ribbon sporting rugby extravaganza that is rich in Bradby tradition either in Asia or in any other continent? The Brabdy far exceed even the Rugby test between nations. If you don't know Bradby and Rugby history, I strongly urge you read and learn from history before spewing your ignorance, envy and ego.

How can 2 schools scheduling matches by their own despite the league matches are yet to be scheduled?. On the other hand these people are privilaged to bringdown foreign referees without any permission.

The Bradby Shield encounter has been in existence long before the so called schools league was established. Furthermore, the reason for foreign referees is ensure the game is controlled fairly unlike the schools league.
