The 75th Independence day parade concluded a short while ago at the Galle Face Green by reciting the national anthem in Tamil.

The event was celebrated at the Galle Face Green with the participation of President Ranil Wickramasinghe, Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, the visiting foreign dignitaries, diplomats, military personnel, religious leaders and politicians. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)

I welcome the bold decision to set a side differences and the step taken or the signal is given for UNITY IN SRI LANKA by singing the National Anthem in Tamil to conclude the event. All in all a simple, short, sweet and a less expensive event compared to all previous ones.

Frankly speaking it was one of the most simplest celebrations. The biggest cost if at all would have been in deployment of so much security personnel to keep away trouble makers!

Only the Three forces and Police participated in Independence Parade. No school children, no drummers ,no dancers in Parade. Parade was simple and no tamasha. That's praiseworthy. Retribution to noisy opponents who want PC election some how , than Independence celebrations.
