62 dental surgeons to receive appointment letters on Monday

Appointment letters for 62 Dental Surgeons will be handed over at a special ceremony at the main auditorium of the Ministry of Health and Mass Media on Monday (29) under the patronage of Health and Mass Media Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa.

The Dental Surgeons have completed five years of undergraduate education at medical faculties in Sri Lanka and recognised foreign universities, followed by a one-year compulsory training programme under the supervision of specialist and senior doctors at major government hospitals islandwide.

The appointments will take effect from January 1, 2026. The Ministry said the newly appointed Dental Surgeons will be deployed to government hospitals and health institutions in underserved and remote areas, including the Northern and Eastern provinces.

Health Secretary Specialist Dr. Anil Jasinghe, Director General of Health Services Specialist Dr. Asela Gunawardena, Deputy Director General (Dental Services) Specialist Dr. Chandana Gajanayake, and other senior ministry officials are scheduled to attend the event.
