60 pregnant mothers, 89 children died so far due to COVID-19
About 60 pregnant mothers and 89 children below 18 years of age have so far succumbed to COVID-19, Family Health Bureau Director Dr. Chithramalee de Silva said yesterday.
Addressing a news briefing at the Health Promotion Bureau, she said all the deaths of pregnant mothers were in the third wave.
"Since 95% of pregnant mothers have received COVID vaccine, the number of deaths has considerably gone down, so are the infections," she said.
Dr. de Silva also requested all eligible pregnant mothers to get their booster shot as third dose rollout which is currently underway. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
