Colombo, Feb 07 (Daily Mirror) - Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath said today that 59 Sri Lankans who enlisted in the Russian army had died as of January 20, 2025.

Speaking in Parliament, Herath cited data from the Foreign Ministry’s Consular Affairs Division, revealing that 554 Sri Lankans had joined the Russian military.

The minister was responding to a query from Opposition lawmaker S. Shridaran.

Perhaps saved some monies that these ex-soldiers were supposed to have been paid as pension. They perhaps are learning fighting against Ukraine is quite different to what they did against LTTE.
