5,000 students to get interest-free loan facility: Siyambalapitiya

Applications will be called for the government’s interest-free student loan scheme for students who have sat for the G.C.E Advanced Level examination in 2019, 2020 and 2021, for their higher education at private universities, State Finance Minister Ranjith Siyamabalapitiya said.

He said applications will be accepted from tomorrow (July 04), from 5,000 students who must follow job-oriented courses of study, to be eligible for the loan facility.

Minister must be of the view that the offer is a super election gimmick. I doubt our students to be that gullible to believe and support them

This appears to be a good move. It has to be increased higher number of students. There should not be any favorisium. All qualified students must have this opportunity . Also periodical monitoring to be done.
