35 injured in bus collision
At least 35 people were injured following a head-on collision between two buses in the Ududeniya ,Naula area on the Matale-Dambulla main road this evening.
A Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) bus and a private bus were involved in the accident, which occurred around 3 pm today.
Of the injured 15 people were rushed to the Nalanda Hospital in Naula and 5 others were admitted to the Matale Hospital for further treatment. The rest had received minor injuries.
Meanwhile, a mother and daughter died this evening when a lorry ran over them at Kahatuduwa in the Piliyandala area. It was reported that the driver of the lorry had lost control due to a tyre puncture. (Pix and tex by Mahesh Keerthiratne)
